International Women's Day 2019
Today is International Women’s Day and the first thing I did today was call my mom to tell her “Thank you, for being a Woman.”.
International women’s day was first established in 1011 ans was supported by over 1 million people. Can you believe that? At that time, that was a lot of people. Each year a new theme is picked to become the main focus for today and this year that focus is #BalanceforBetter. This is meant to encourage people to explore how they can build a gender balanced world. There are may women from historical figures to your very own sister, mother or BFF that are leaving an imprint in the world.
Today I wanted to celebrate the woman who made me the strong, independent woman that I am today. MY MOTHER!
"My mother told me to be a lady. And for her, that meant be your own person, be independent." — Ruth Bader Ginsburg
Through her actions she taught me to be fierce, that NO matter what life throws at me…I can overcome with a smile, grace and strength.
You would never know the pain this woman has endured from loosing both parents at a young age to loosing her first born child. However, through this pain she continues to endure, she continues to smile and her laugh is literally the most contagious laugh around. This woman right here deserves to be celebrated everyday. She is a Labor and Delivery Nurse, this means she daily helps women be strong, and bring new live into this world. She, stands as a pillar when women loose their fight or cant fight anymore. She has taught each of her children to stand TALL, STRONG, and TO REMAIN UNSTOPPABLE.
This woman… SHE , is my mother and she to be CELEBRATED today and EVERYDAY.
XOXO~ Mom, I love you toady, forever and always my mommy YOU will be.
